Adrian Bailey

Statement

Adrian Elected Chair of the

Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee

I am grateful for the honour of being elected by my colleagues to the position as Chair of the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee.

As a Member of Parliament for a constituency with a large manufacturing presence dependent on raising aspirations, education, and vocational skills levels, this is a role that is both relevant to my constituents and vital for the country if we are to grow out of recession and compete against global manufacturing competition.

I believe that it is the responsibility of the Government to improve skills and aspirations during difficult economic times and will be working with fellow committee members to ensure that their policies are cost-effective and deliver the skills base and manufacturing potential essential to our future.
