Adrian honours the ‘Untold Stories’ of the Holocaust

Holocaust Memorial Day 2011

Adrian Bailey has pledged his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day by signing a Book of Commitment in Westminster to honour those who perished in the Holocaust.

Holocaust Memorial Day commemorates all communities who suffered as a result of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution and is marked each year on 27th January - the anniversary of the liberation of the former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Every year the Holocaust Educational Trust places a Book of Commitment in the House of Commons for MPs to sign and pledge to remember the Holocaust and act on its lessons.

Each year there is a different theme for Holocaust Memorial Day. The theme this year is Untold Stories, and commemorates those who survived the concentration camps and go on to dedicate their lives to educating young people about the Holocaust.

Adrian said:

“It was an honour to sign the Book of Commitment to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. It is vital that the lessons of the Holocaust are passed onto our young people, to raise awareness of the past and challenge prejudice and racism today.”

Karen Pollock, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Memorial trust, said:

“We are delighted that Adrian is supporting Holocaust Memorial Day. As the number of survivors dwindles, remembering the Holocaust and passing on their testimony is more crucial than ever.”
