Adrian warns of tough times ahead for young people in West Bromwich West

Adrian has warned that for the first time, there is a danger the next generation will find it harder to get on in life than the last as the latest youth unemployment figures hit a new high. Youth unemployment has risen by 66,000 across the country and is now the highest figure since comparable records began in 1992

Adrian Bailey MP said:

“It is becoming increasingly clear that David Cameron’s broken promises will mean that life will be much tougher for families and young people in the next few years and I am worried about what this will mean for people in West Bromwich West.

Youth unemployment has risen since the Tory-led Government came to power, which makes me wonder why David Cameron has scrapped Labour’s ‘Future Jobs Fund’ that was making sure our young people were guaranteed work or training. The Tory-led Government are stacking the odds even further against young people in West Bromwich West who want to get on in life.

Children centres are under threat, Child Trust Funds will be scrapped, Educational Maintenance Allowance which helps young people stay at college will be abolished, and tuition fees for university will increase dramatically. The Government is asking children and families in West Bromwich West to bear the brunt of their cuts, showing that they have no idea what pressure ordinary families and young people are under.”
