Football at Ocker Hill Primary?

Adrian visited Ocker Hill Junior School on Friday to support the schools recent award from the Big Lottery Fund.

The school, which received £9,980 in order to work with West Bromwich Albion Football Clubs Community Programme, is one of many local initiatives that successfully applied for lottery funding in November & December 2007.

The project which will kick-off at the end of the month will provide the Tipton Junior School with fifteen after school football related booster sessions, 30 after school ’90 minute clubs’ and a football based family learning activity.  As stated on the clubs website the objectives outlined for the ’90 minute club’ programmes are to “combine sport with a national curriculum based education.”

Speaking after the event, Adrian said:

‘The project has demonstrated that young peoples passion for football can be harnessed to improve their education. It was obvious talking to the pupils that the experience of visiting West Bromwich Albion and associating with players and workers from the club both awed and enthused them.

I spoke to five of the participants and they all said what a wonderful experience they had enjoyed.’
