Expenses Press Release

ADRIAN BAILEY MP ACTS TO REASSURE

CONSTITUENTS OVER HIS EXPENSES

West Bromwich MP Adrian Bailey has begun publishing full details of his expenses online.

Anyone who wants to view the MP’s claims can now go to www.adrianbailey.org and simply click on the main news story to access pdf files and access the expenses he has incurred and claimed for during his work in Parliament.

He has begun by posting the details of his claims for accomodation over the last four years, from 2004 to 2008. Full disclosure of his office and travel expenses are to be added as soon as they have been collated.

Mr Bailey said: “Given the completely justified level of public concern over MPs and their expenses, I am more than happy to publish all the currently available details of my expenses claims - from 2008 back to 2004.

“I have always tried to act not only within the House of Commons rules but also within the spirit of those rules. I understand the widespread reaction to the publication of these expenses and wish to be transparent.

“I live in the heart of my West Bromwich West constituency and am active within the community on a weekly basis. However, living more than a 100 miles from London, I have to have a second home in the capital or else I would not be able to conduct my Parliamentary business adequately on behalf of my constituents.

“All expenses claimed, and now published, have been for my second home in London.

“The first publication consists of my accommodation claims. My office expenses and travelling expenses will be published in due course when I have had chance to check them for potential breaches of the Data Protection Act.”
