Housing Funding for Sandwell

MP Welcomes Government’s Housing Pledge

MP for West Bromwich West, Adrian Bailey, today welcomed the Government’s Kickstart announcement which will see Sandwell allocated £8,885,000 for new Housing.

Under the Government’s Housing Pledge, announced by the Prime Minister as part of Building Britain’s Future, a total of £925m funding will be allocared to 270 projects across the UK. The first wave of Kickstart funding aims to build 22,400 homes and create around 20,000 jobs in the construction industry.

In Sandwell this announcement will be allocated to four projects which could see the completion of 218 new homes this year and next. The schemes will now be subject to a rapid due diligence process which will ensure that the scheme is deliverable, represents good value for money and will provide good quality homes.

Local MP Adrian Bailey welcomed the announcement and stated:

“This is great news for the many families on the Sandwell Homes waiting list. I will be urging both Sandwell Council and the Government to get moving on this as a matter of urgency".
